After being inside for over a year and a half, Lil Baby and Lil Durk welcomed New Orleans “Back Outside” on Sunday night. Although proof of vaccinations and negative COVID-19 tests were required to attend the show, the “Back Outside Tour” still provided a sense of normalcy to fans as they rapped along to their favorite songs in the crowd.
Originally the show was slated to take place on Tuesday, September 14 but due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, it was postponed to Sunday, October 17 – making it the last stop of the twenty-three city tour!
Lil Durk
After Bankroll Freddie, Rylo Rodrigues, and Coi Leray warmed up the crowd, Lil Durk hit the stage starting with “Man Down.” Throughout his set, Durk was accompanied by an incredible live band including a guitarist, keyboardist, and drummer!

He brought Coi Leray back out to perform their collaboration “No More Parties” together. But of course, the most hype part of his set was when he performed his verse of Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later.” As the music video played in the background, fans rapped along to every single word!
Lil Baby
Picture this: The lights go out and Drake’s “Wants and Needs” starts playing throughout the smoke-filled venue. As Drake says “I’m in love with two girls at one time and they tens,” Lil Baby appears on a raised platform getting out of a bed with two women before diving into his verse with smoke going off. Talk about an introduction!
You probably know Lil Baby from being featured on songs with some of the biggest names in rap including Drake, Future, Kanye West, Travis Scott, and more. Or maybe you’ve heard some of his songs being used for popular TikTok trends. Either way, the 26-year old Atlanta native is surely making a name for himself as one of the hottest rappers! Fans filled the Smoothie King Center, even standing on their chairs and within the aisle, to get a good view of the three-time Grammy-nominated rapper!

With a two-tiered elevated stage, visuals, pyrotechnics, and a group of all-female dancers, he made sure the crowd was entertained throughout his over-hour-long set! Did I mention he had stage props? During “Sum 2 Prove” he sat on a loveseat before rolling around the stage on a clothing rack while performing his 9x platinum hit, “Drip Too Hard.” Throughout his over twenty song set, Lil Baby made sure to perform some fan favorites including “Yes Indeed,” “We Paid,” “Close Friends, “On Me,” and his verse from Drake’s “Girls Like Girls.” He also brought Lil Durk back out to perform a few songs from their collaborative album, “The Voice of the Heroes.” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart!
New Orleans definitely showed Lil Baby love Sunday night and The Back Outside Tour was the perfect escape from all of the craziness happening in the world! Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him and hopefully his return to the Big Easy next tour.
