Banding Together to Raise Money for Local New Orleans Artists

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival season (and all live music events) has come to a halt and so has the income a lot of our favorite local musicians rely on. But this Saturday, April 25th, you have the chance to give back to the musicians who have given so much to our great city! The best part? You don’t have to leave home!

As you all know, this weekend would have been the first weekend of Jazz Fest 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival season has come to a halt and so has the income a lot of our favorite local musicians rely on. But this Saturday, April 25th, you have the chance to give back to the musicians who have given so much to our great city!

The Band Together Benefit

This Saturday, April 25, 2020, Band Together Productions, LLC. will be holding a music festival where the proceeds benefit Orleans and Jefferson Parish musicians. The best part? You don’t have to leave home! The virtual music festival will be streamed from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm CDT on bandtogetherbenefit.com, ALT 92.3 FM and offbeat.com.

Band Together Benefit organizers said, “New Orleans is synonymous with music, it’s in our DNA. Band Together is that spirit, that dance, that energy that connects all the sons and daughters of the Big Easy. We wanted to do our part to make sure that the music, joy and happiness we spread around the world survives at the start of what would have been our festival season. When times get tough we will always Band Together.”

The Line-Up

This 3-hour virtual festival will feature performances by Grammy-winning artists, platinum selling singers and Billboard Top 20 bands. The line-up includes artists PJ Morton, Dawn Richard, Tank and the Bangas, Ivan Neville, Galactic, Jon Cleary, FlowTribe, Cupid, Kermit Ruffins and more.

How You Can Help

With the cancellation of the 2020 festival season, many artists’ annual revenue has been greatly impacted. The Band Together Benefit will be raising funds to supply as many applicants as possibly with a grant of at least $500 to assist with rent, utilities, medical needs and other expenses.

You can begin donating immediately on the website. All donations will be directed to the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Band Together Benefit Fund and are 100% tax-deductible! You can also purchase Band Together merchandise such as t-shirts and dad hats on their website.

Don Marshall, Executive Director of The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation said, “The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is pleased to be the lead sponsor of the Band TogetherBenefit Festival. With performances and concerts being cancelled, musicians are losing opportunities to support themselves and their families. For generations, the musicians of our community have provided the soul of Louisiana. It is time for all of us to come together to provide much needed support during this difficult time.”
