What better way to end off 2018 than at a free concert?
Can you believe it’s already been two years since Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve expanded their tradition to New Orleans as their first official Central Time Zone Countdown?! Previous headliners include Imagine Dragons, Panic! at the Disco, Jason Derulo, Usher, FUN, Kelly Clarkson and more. This year’s live segment included performances by country headliners, Florida Georgia Line and Maren Morris at Allstate’s Sugar Bowl Fan Fest.
You may know Florida Georgia Line from their 2012 hit “Cruise” with Nelly or their 2017 Billboard Chart Topping Single ”Meant to Be” with Bebe Rexha! Also, you may know Dallas native, Maren Morris, from her song “The Middle“ with Zedd and Grey that took over the radio in 2018! They couldn’t have picked better artists seeing as the crowd wasn’t only filled with local New Orleanians but visitors from Georgia and Texas who were in town to cheer on their teams at the Sugar Bowl.
Both acts performed for free on December 31, 2018 in the Jax Brewery Parking Lot in probably the best weather conditions New Orleans has seen for New Year’s in a decade. If you watched NYRE from the comfort of your own home, you probably saw one or two songs from each of the artists performed on air but in person, they surprisingly performed full sets for the crowd before ringing in the New Year live from the French Quarters.
For the third year in a row, Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale, hosted Dick Clark’s Rockin Eve in new Orleans. In between breaks, they interviewed New Orleans’ current mayor, Latoya Cantrell and Louisiana’s Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. Also, two Georgia and Texas fans went head to head in a ”find the baby in the king cake“ challenge!
I’m already looking forward to the 2019 Allstate Fan Fest and New Year’s Rockin Eve event! Want to re-live the night? Check out my NYRE Instagram Highlight to watch clips from the show and soundcheck along with the photo gallery below.
