As most of you know, Ticketmaster is the world’s largest ticket marketplace. And love it or hate it, it’s one of the go-to sites to purchase tickets for concerts and other live events. But here’s a little concert hack you may not know! Ticketmaster/Live Nation will let you exchange or upgrade your concert ticket. But there are some requirements!
First off, there are some non-participating artists and venues that have ‘no refunds or exchanges’ policies. Second, you can’t upgrade at the last minute. You can submit a request if an event is at least 72 hours away – in some cases, they’ll do it for events that are 24 to 48 hours away!
Are you eligible for a ticket exchange? According to Live Nation, you are if:
- You purchased your tickets directly from Ticketmaster
- Your order/confirmation number is formatted as 12-2345/FLO
- You didn’t receive your tickets via resale, transfer, or from a third-party site; and
- Your order doesn’t contain VIP tickets, premium tickets, or additional non-refundable items such as merchandise.
Your new tickets must meet the following requirements:
- Must be the same or greater price as your current tickets.
- They must be for the same event, venue, and date.
- New tickets must be indicated by a blue dot on the seat map. Pink dots are Fan-to-Fan Resale tickets, which can’t be purchased via an exchange. Gold dots indicate Ticketmaster Platinum pricing.
If you meet all the requirements and found a ticket to upgrade to, contact Ticketmaster’s Fan Support to process an exchange! Select the topic “Exchange/Update My Tickets” then provide your order/confirmation number, phone number, event name, and event date. Make the subject line “Change Seat Request” and in the question box, detail the new ticket you want to upgrade to including the section, seat(s), and row numbers.
If your new ticket is the same price as your original one, you’ll just pay an upgrade fee per ticket (usually about $10 USD). If your new ticket is more than your original one, you’ll pay the difference plus the upgrade fee.
