[Review] Jack Harlow’s Mission Tour

Artist to watch, Jack Harlow delivered a high-energy set on Halloween night in New Orleans!

Jack Harlow, a 21-year-old emerging hip hop artist from Louisville, KY, brought the Mission Tour to the Parish at House of Blues in New Orleans on Halloween night. Though this was Harlowโ€™s first time headlining a show in the city, heโ€™s no stranger to the City of New Orleans. In fact, he performed here just last year at the 2018 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience!

Louisville Rapper takes over the Parish Room

The crowd in the Parish Room began to get louder and antsier as the time for Harlow to hit the stage neared. As soon as the beat of โ€œSunday Nightโ€ began to play throughout the venue, the crowd started chanting Jack Harlow’s name. From the moment Harlow stepped onto the stage, he exuded confidence and an undeniable upbeat energy.

Throughout the hour, Harlow performed around fifteen catchy tracks that had the crowd more than hype. Although majority of his setlist consisted of newer tracks from his most recent album, Confetti, he still made sure to perform some music from his earlier projects too. In between songs Harlow asked if the crowd had listened to him before Confetti dropped. It was evident the crowd was filled with day one fans as they sang along word for word to some of Harlowโ€™s older tracks, including โ€œ9th Grade,โ€ โ€œSundown,โ€ โ€œPickYourPhoneUp,โ€ and โ€œDark Knight.โ€

Not only is his music is melodious and real but Jack Harlow is humble. He expressed how grateful he was for everyone who made a trip to be at the show and for spending their Halloween seeing him live. He also took a second to give a shoutout to the people running the soundboard and thanked them for making the music sound great! And like every out of town artist who visits NOLA, he mentioned how he recently tried some local New Orleans food, โ€œI just had one of those shrimp boys.โ€

Favorite Moment

The Parish Room is a small room located upstairs at the House of Blues here in New Orleans. Because of itโ€™s size, it allows fans to have close interactions and intimate moments with their favorite artists. One of my favorite moments during the show was when the Louisville rapper performed his single, Thru the Night. The song features another fellow Louisville native, Bryson Tiller, and samples a high-pitched version of Usherโ€™s 2001 hit, โ€œU Donโ€™t Have to Call.โ€ The crowd went so hard when rapping along to Jackโ€™s verse of the song that he asked his DJ to run it back one more time. There was something special about watching Jack stand back and let the crowd rap along with a big smile on his face. After the second run, Harlow took a second to point out a fan who was front and center rapping along to every word all night long.

Harlow is One to Watch

Though Jack Harlow isnโ€™t exactly a household name (yet), itโ€™s safe to say he is making his mark! โ€œIโ€™m Jack Harlow and Iโ€™m from Louisville, KY. When we come back itโ€™s gonna be stupid!โ€ With that being said, Jack Harlow is definitely an artist to watch and I would highly recommend buying a ticket to see him live next time heโ€™s in New Orleans. Trust me, you will not regret it!
